What is National Geographic Live?
National Geographic Live delivers incredible stories through various programs that include talks with Explorers and adventurers, film concerts, and one-of-a-kind events.
Who is this program for?
Children approximately 8 to 11 years old who are curious about the world.
Will any of the videos or challenges be live?
No. At this time all of the videos and content are pre-recorded and available for streaming on-demand to allow for flexibility and convenience with your schedule. The videos and content are not available for download (unless otherwise expressly stated), and can only be streamed as a one-way broadcast. There will be no live interaction between the hosts, guest Explorers, or other users.
Is there a deadline by which I need to register my child for this experience?
Yes. Currently you have until September 3, 2021 to register your child for any themed week of content that is offered as part of National Geographic Live Explorer Academy Adventures.
Do I need a printer?
Although we recommend that you print certain reference materials such as a few specific pages of the Field Journals to fully experience the National Geographic Live Explorer Academy Adventures program, most of those reference materials (e.g., the Field Journals, Guardian’s Guide and Digital Badges) will be available for digital download to a compatible device.
Do I need to download any software for this experience?
You will probably not need to download any software, but you will need an active internet connection on a compatible device. You can access this experience with almost any internet-connected computer, laptop, or tablet. You will also need enough internet bandwidth to stream videos.
Is there a maximum number of devices my child can use for his or her single login?
Currently, your child can use up to four individual devices to access a themed week of content that is offered as part of National Geographic Live Explorer Academy Adventures. If more than four devices are used to access a themed week of content, the corresponding “Adventure Link” for that themed week may be deactivated. However, if you log in to the Guardian’s Dashboard, a new Adventure Link will be automatically generated for you. If you encounter any challenges with your Adventure Link, please contact email@example.com.
What kind of supplies do I need? How much will that cost?
Each week we will give you access to a list of supplies needed to participate in the various activities and experiments, through the “Materials List” section of your Guardian’s Guide. These lists include simple items either found around the house or purchased from a local store (ex: food dye, yarn, colored pencils). Access to the list of items needed for the activities in a themed week of content will be sent to you approximately ten (10) calendar days before the themed week is made available to access on the Explorer Academy Adventures Website. You will also find it in the “Resources” section of your unique “Guardian’s Dashboard” webpage for the Program.
If you register your child for a themed week later than ten (10) calendar days before the themed week is made available to access on the Explorer Academy Adventures Website, then you can refer to the list of supplies in the Resources section of the Guardian’s Dashboard.
Do any supplies get shipped to me?
No, though most items can be found around the home or obtained from a local store.
Does my child need to have read the National Geographic Kids Explorer Academy books to participate?
The National Geographic Live Explorer Academy Adventures program is based on the books, but your child can participate and enjoy the weeks regardless of whether they are familiar with the books.
How will this be different from school?
National Geographic Live Explorer Academy Adventures is meant to be a fun experience where curiosity is encouraged and learning happens organically by engaging with National Geographic Explorers. National Geographic Partners, LLC, which is providing the Explorer Academy Adventures experience, is not a school, nor are we an academic or educational agency or institution.
What is a National Geographic Explorer?
An Explorer is a person who has received funding from the National Geographic Society to carry out some of the most groundbreaking scientific research and storytelling around the world. A new Explorer each week will share their expertise in the stated theme.
What is the National Geographic Society?
The National Geographic Society is a global nonprofit organization that uses the power of science, exploration, education, and storytelling to illuminate and protect the wonder of our world. To learn more, visit www.nationalgeographic.org.
What kind of interaction with the hosts or Explorers will my child have?
This is a one-way broadcast production. Interactivity is created by having your child pause the video at designated moments to engage in various activities, experiments, and puzzles. There is no opportunity to talk directly with the hosts or Explorers.
What kind of help do I need to provide/How involved do I need to be?
The goal is for your child to engage for approximately two hours each day, Monday through Thursday. However, this is a one-way broadcast of content, so it is recommended that adults be available for supervision at home. Some activities can benefit from adult assistance but many can be completed solo unless otherwise specified.
What if my child struggles with a puzzle?
Adults will be provided a Guardian’s Guide, which provides activity instructions, materials lists, and basic information about what your child will experience each day. The Guardian’s Guide also contains an answer key to all puzzles.
How long is each day of content?
To participate fully in all the activities, kids should set aside approximately 2 hours per day. Each day of content consists of approximately 45 minutes of video content, plus approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes of self-directed “activity” time for a registrant, during which the registrant completes self-directed puzzles and activities, for a total of approximately 2 hours per day, or a total of approximately 8 hours per themed week. Nevertheless, the actual duration of a registrant’s self-directed “activity” time, while designed to take up approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, will depend on the registrant’s individual speed and familiarity with the content, reliance on parent involvement, frequency of breaks, and other factors specific to each registrant.
How long can my child access the content that is offered as part of this experience?
The videos and other content will be available for you and your child to view for a limited time—currently scheduled until December 31, 2021. However, for certain content such as quizzes and puzzles, once answers have been submitted the quiz or puzzle cannot be reset to be taken again. We reserve the right, in our reasonable discretion, to modify, restrict, suspend, discontinue or cancel this experience at any time.
Can more than one child in a household use one subscription?
Each themed week of content is designed for one child.
Can I register my child for a themed week of content that was already released on a previous week?
Yes, you may register your child for any of the previously released weeks of content in the programming schedule at any time until September 3, 2021.
Will there be any images or content that will be upsetting?
The videos do talk about ways that kids can help protect the earth, and some of the reasons the earth needs protection, but we do not show images of a graphic nature, such as deceased animals.
Who should I contact if my child needs closed captioning services or has other special requests relating to a disability?

Who do I contact if my login information is lost or not working?
If your Disney Account password is lost or not working, please use the "forgot user" or "forgot password" links at the Disney Account login screen. If the problem is related to your child’s login for National Geographic Live Explorer Academy Adventures, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Can I record the content that is offered as part of this experience?
No, you are not allowed to record any content that is offered as part of this experience.
What is your cancellation / refund policy?
You can cancel your child’s enrollment in a themed week of content, and receive a refund for the amount that you paid for the themed week (or if you paid to enroll your child in multiple themed weeks at a discount, the pro-rated amount that you paid), at any time before the day on which the themed week is made available to access on the Explorer Academy Adventures Website.
For questions about canceling your child’s enrollment in a themed week of content, or to cancel your child’s enrollment in a themed week of content, please email Customer Service at email@example.com and provide the following information in your email: the email address that you used to register your child for this experience; the Order ID for your registration; and the specific themed week(s) of content that you wish to cancel and receive a refund for. Please note that all of this information is conveniently located in your registration confirmation email. Do not transmit any credit card information or other personal information in your refund request email. We will aim to send you a response within one (1) business day.
Can I buy a themed week (or a bundle of themed weeks) of content as a gift for someone I know?
Currently, only a child’s parent or guardian can register and pay to access a themed week or a bundle of themed weeks of content for that child.
When are themed weeks of content released for enrollment?
Each week, on Mondays, from June 21, 2021 until August 30, 2021, a new themed week of content will be released as part of the programming schedule, until 11 themed weeks of content have been released. Each themed week consists of 4 days of content, which is released and made accessible on each of the 4 applicable days that week, on Monday = Day 1, Tuesday = Day 2, Wednesday = Day 3, and Thursday = Day 4.
Any themed week of content that you enroll your child in, as well as any graphics, videos, puzzles, activities, or other content included in such themed week(s) of content, will only be accessible to you and your child, and available for you and your child to view, for a limited time—currently scheduled until December 31, 2021. We reserve the right, in our reasonable discretion, to modify, restrict, suspend, discontinue or cancel this experience at any time.
Can I switch to a different themed week of content after already registering for one?
If you have any questions about switching your registration to a different themed week, please contact Customer Service at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How much does enrollment in a week of content cost?
You can enroll your child in one (1) themed week of content at a time for $99.00, or all eleven (11) themed weeks of content at once for $825.00 (at $75.00 per week of content). If you prefer to enroll your child in a smaller “bundle” of themed weeks of content at a time, you can purchase a bundle of access to three (3) themed weeks of content or a bundle of five (5) weeks of content:

We do not give credit for any payments on previously purchased bundles toward the subsequent purchase of another bundle.
When you place your order, we estimate the applicable tax, if any, and include that estimate in the total for your convenience. Except to the extent required under applicable tax laws, the actual tax amount that will be applied to your order and charged to your payment method is based on calculations on the date of confirmation of purchase, when payment for the themed week(s) of content is charged.
Payment will be charged to your chosen payment method at confirmation of purchase.
How do I register my child for this experience? Once I’ve registered, how do I or my child access the content?
To register your child for this experience, you must create a Disney Account. Only individuals who have registered for a Disney Account, provide certain information (e.g., a valid email address), and agree to the Transaction Terms are eligible to register their child for this experience. You must have access to the internet and a valid email address to create a Disney Account. If you have an existing Disney Account, you can register your child for this experience using your Disney Account credentials.
Once you register your child for this experience using your Disney Account credentials, and pay to access this experience, you will receive a registration confirmation email that contains important information about this experience and your child’s registration, including a link to your unique “Guardian’s Dashboard” webpage for the Program. The Guardian’s Dashboard is intended for your use and is not intended for your child. When you click the link to your Guardian’s Dashboard, you will be prompted to use your Disney Account credentials to access the Guardian’s Dashboard.
From the Guardian’s Dashboard, you will see a “Program Schedule” header, underneath from which you will see, for each of the themed weeks of content that your child is enrolled in: (1) a “Start Adventure” link that will automatically launch the separate “Academy Dashboard” webpage where your child can access and experience the listed themed week of content; and (2) a clickable QR code that generates the “Adventure Link” that is specific to your child’s Academy Dashboard for the listed themed week.
The Academy Dashboard, from which your child can access and experience the listed themed week, can be accessed automatically by clicking the “Start Adventure” link on your Guardian’s Dashboard. Alternatively, if you want to allow your child to access the Academy Dashboard for the listed themed week on his or her own, rather than through your Guardian’s Dashboard, you can use the clickable QR code by (1) scanning the QR code using the camera, if any, on your child’s device or (2) clicking “Copy Link to Clipboard” to send (via email or other means of link sharing) the Adventure Link to your child’s device. That way, after a listed themed week of content is released, your child can access that themed week by simply scanning the corresponding QR code with his or her device camera or copying the QR code’s Adventure Link to his or her browser.
